SUBJECT RecommendatIon to Award Bid to Provide Washing and Cleaning Services
for Recycling/Refuse Trucks and SemI-Tractor Trailers, Bid #2673
Introduction
ThiS report recommends an award of bid to proVide washmg and c1eanmg services for
recycllnglrefuse trucks and semi-tractor trailers for the Solid Waste DIVISion,
Environmental and Public Works Management Department at specified Unit prices With
two one-year renewal options The estfmated annual amount IS $34,840
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published December 9 and December 10,
1997) In accordance With CIty speCifIcations, bids were received and publicly opened and
read on December 22, 1997 Proposal forms were mailed to three (3) vendors and
notices were advertised In accordance With City Charter and MUnicipal Code proVISions
Two (2) proposals were received as follows

This bid covers washing and c1eamng twelve refuse and/or recycling trucks one time per
week and five semi-tractor trailers two times per month for one year The cleaning of the
five semI-tractor trailers may Increase to one time per week dunng rainy season These
vehIcles are used In day to day refuse operations and regular car washes are not
equipped to handle vehicles of thiS size Cleaning IS done on site on Friday evening and
IS completed by Saturday morning so that all vehicles Will be available for service
Staff has evaluated the low bid and fmds that It meets City specifications

DIVISion, EnVironmental and Public Works Management Department, account num-
bers 27-500-441-00000-5501-00000 ($30,26857) and 27-500-442-00000-5501-00000

Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid #2673 be made to Trlp'I-E Graffiti & Stain
Removal at specified Unit prices and two one-year renewal options, as the lowest
responsible bidder
