SUBJECT Ordinance Amending Santa MOnica MUnicipal Code Section 308 180 To

INTRODUCTION
At Its meetIng on February 17, 1998, the City Council introduced for first reading an
ordinance amending SectIon 308180 of the Santa MOnica Municipal Code to modify
Preferential Parking Zone G The ordinance IS now presented to the City Council for
adoption
RECOMMENDATION

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING SANTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 308.180 TO
MODIFY THE HOURS IN PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE G
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic EngIneer has received a petltron requesting the
modification of Preferential Parking Zone G on 15th Street betw'een Montana Avenue and
Alta Avenue, and
WHEREAS, the petltton has been venfied to be signed by residents living In
two-thirds of the dwelling Units compnslng not less than fifty percent (50%) of the
developed frontage of the proposed preferential parkrng zone, and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has undertaken such studies and
surveys deemed necessary to determIne whether a preferential parkmg zone should be
designated In the area, and
WHEREAS, the CIty CouncIl IS satisfied that the proposed area meets the
designation cntena set forth In MUnicipal Code Section 308.040,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES ORDAIN AS FOllOWS.

SECTION 1 Santa MOnica Municipal Code Section 3 08 180 IS amended to read
as follows
Section 3 08 180 Preferential Parklnc Zone G
(a) The following named and descnbed area within
the City shall constitute Preferential Parking Zone G 15th
Street from Montana Avenue to Alta Avenue
(b) No vehicle shall be parked or stopped adjacent
to any curb in Preferential Parking Zone G for more than one
hour between the hours of 9 00 a m and 9 00 p.m without a
permit Issued and displayed In accordance with thiS Chapter.
(c) Any vehicle parked or stopped without a permit
when required by thiS Section may be removed from the street
by any police officer
(d) The annual fee for each permit Issued for
PreferentIal Parking Zone G shall be $1500 per permit, or
such other fee as may be established from time to time by
resolution of the City Council
SECTION 2 Any proVIsion of the Santa MOnica MUniCipal Code or appendices
thereto inConsistent With the provIsions of thiS Ordinance, to the extent of such
inCOnsistencies and no further, are hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary
to affect the proVIsions of thiS Ordinance

SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of thiS
Ordinance IS for any reason held to be Invalid or unconstItutional by a deCISion of any court
of any competent JUriSdiction, such deCISion shall not affect the validity of the remainIng
portions of thiS Ordinance The City Council hereby declares that It would have passed thiS
Ordinance, and each and every section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase not
declared invalid or unconstitutional Without regard to whether any portion of the Ordinance
would be subsequently declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4 The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall attest to the passage of
thiS Ordinance. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be published once In the offiCial
newspaper Within 15 days after ItS adoption ThiS Ordinance shall become effectrve after
30 days from Its adoption
