This report recommends award of bid to furnish and deliver miscellaneous computer
equ Ipment for vanous City departments m the total amount of $141,846 83, mcludmg
applicable sales tax
Backaround
I n response to published Notices I nVltmg Bids (published December 23 and 24, 1997) to
furnish and deliver miscellaneous computer equipment In accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on January 20, 1998
Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-sIx (26) vendors and notices were advertised In
accordance With City Charter and MUnicipal Code provIsions Twelve (12) proposals were
received as follows

new computers are specified component by component so that all City computer systems

The bid submitted by PC Expanders, Inc IS non-responsive because they did not comply
with City speCifications for the monitors and Video cards The speCifications were created
with much conSideration, taking prrce and quality Into account PC Expanders substituted
less expensive, but Infenor quality Items for speCified Optlquest mOnitors and Diamond
Stealth Video cards

Recommendation
It IS recommended that CouncIl reject the bid submitted by PC Expanders and that award
of Bid #2675 be made to MIcro World In the total amount of $141,84683, Including
applicable sales tax, as the most responsible bidder
