TO THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE TO
ESTABLISH PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE KK
WHEREAS, the Par~C~ng and Traffic Engmeer has recei~ed a petition reguestirtg
es#abhshment of a preferentia[ parking zone on 18th Street between Broadway and Santa
Monica Boulevard, and
WHEREAS, the petition has been ~er~fed to be signed by resi~ents living in
twfl-thirds of the dwellmg units comprising nat less than fifty percent (50%) of the
developed frantage of the proposed preferential parkmg zone, and
WHEREAS, the Park~~g and Traffic E~g~r~eer has ut~dertakeri such studtes and
surveys deemed necessary to determine whether a preferential park~ng zone should be
designated in the area, and
WHEREAS, the City Council is satisfie~ that the proposed area meets the
designation crEteria set forth in Mur~icipal Code Sectian 3 08 040,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DQES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS

read as follaws
Section 3 08 490 Preferential Park~na Zone KK
(a} The fiollowing named and described area within
the City shall constitute Preferent~al Parking Zone KK ~8th
Street between Broadway and Santa Mon~~a Boulevarc~
(b} No ~ehicle shall be parked or stopped ad~acent
to any curb m Preferent~al Park~ng Zone KK ~etween the hours
of 9 00 a m and 9 OD p m, Monday through Saturday, withaut
a perm~t issued and displayed in accordance w~th this Chapter
(c) Any vehicle parked ar stoppe~ without a permit
when requ~red by this Sect+on may be removed from the s#reet
by any pol~ce afficer
(d) The annual fee far each permit iss~ed for
Preferentaal Parkmg Zone KK shall be $15 0~ per permit, or
such other fee as may be establcst~~d from time to time by
resolution of the City Counc~l
SECTION 2 Any prov~s~on of the Santa Mon~ca Mun~crpal Code or appendices
thereto incans~stent w~#h the provisions of this Ord~nance, to the e~ctent of such
mcons~stencies and r~o further, are hereby repealed or modified ta that ~xtet~t ~ecessary
ta affect the provisions of th~s Ordmance

portions af th~s Ordmanoe The City Cauncil hereby declares that it would ha~e passed this
Ord~nance, and each and every section, subsection, sentence, cEause, or phrase not

Sha' Arei Am lorated at 1448 1$`~ Screet, Santa Monica (at the northwest corner of 18'~
St. and Broadway} expressed concem abo~t the impacts of the preferent~al parldng zone
on the ability of persons ta attend Fnday evemng and Saturday morning services.
2. The synagogue has an available off-street parking Iot which can accommodate
approximately 25 - 30 cars The proposed preferent~al parkmg zone on 18'~ Street will only
be posted along the street frontage of residential developments. As a result, the preferent~al
pazlang zone will affect fewer than half of the 40 on-street parlcing spaces on th~s block.
On-street parlc~ng spaces in the adjacent areas aiong Broadway will not be affected. The
proposeci preferent~al parl~ng zflne on 18'~ Street w~ll not s~gmficantly ~mpact parl~ng for
synagogue services as fewer than 20 on-street parlcing spaces will be affected by the
