IntroductIon
ThIS report requests approval of one new claSSIfIcatIon
speCIfIcatIon and SIX revIsed claSSIfIcatIon speCIficatIons, all
approved by the Personnel Board at theIr regular meetIng of Au-
gust 12, 1985. For ease of reference, the revIsed speCIfIcatIons
are presented showIng deletIons from (parentheses) and addItIons
to (double underlInIng) the orIgInal speCIfIcatIon.
In addItIon,
thIS report requests approval of the attached ResolutIon es-
tabllshIng a salary rate for the new claSSIfIcatIon, ParkIng
SuperVIsor ASSIstant (PolIce Department), and establIshing re-
VIsed salary rates for two eXIstIng claSSIfIcatIons, ASSIstant
ParkIng Lot SuperVIsor and ParkIng Lot SuperVIsor (both In the
RecreatIon and Parks Department).
Background - New ClaSSIfIcatIon SpeCIfIcatIon
The new pOSItIon of ParkIng SuperVIsor ASSIstant has been created
in the PolIce Department to prOVIde closer day-to-day monItorIng
and superVIsIon of the parkIng enforcement functIon. A ParkIng

Checker posItIon has been deleted from the budget as a "trade
offn for the new pOSItIon. Based on an analysIs of Internal
relatIonshIps, an E-Step salary rate of $2076. ($222l./month WIth
PERS) IS recommended.
Background - Revised ClasSIfIcation SpecIfIcatIons
As part of the Personnel Department's regular program of updatIng
classIfIcatIon specIfIcatIons, SIX claSSIfIcation speCIfIcatIons
have been reVIsed. Approval of the reVIsed claSSIfIcatIon
speCIfIcatIons for ASSIstant Planner, ASSOCIate Planner, and
ZonIng Inspector wIll Incorporate changes occasIoned by the Coun-
cil's deCIsion to combIne the Planning and ZonIng DiviSIon WIth
the Program and POlICY Development DIVISIon of the Community and
EconomIC Development Department. Approval of the reVIsed clas-
sIfIcatIon speCIfIcatIons for CashIer Clerk, Trades SuperVIsor,
and Warehouse Worker wIll prOVIde more accurate descrIptIons of
the work actually performed by Incumbents In these
claSSIfIcatIons.
Background - ReVIsed SalarIes
At Its regular meetIng of June 18, 1985, the CIty CounCIl adopted
ResolutIon No. 7034, establIshIng new and/or reVIsed salary rates
for a number of permanent claSSIfIcatIons approved In the adopted
budget for 1985-86. Two addItIonal reVIsions to eXIstIng salary
levels are reqUIred to complete ImplementatIon of the salary
changes contemplated In the budget. The salary placements recom-
mended for ParkIng Lot SuperVIsor and ASSIstant ParkIng Lot
SuperVIsor (both In the RecreatIon and Parks Department) are

based on an analysIs of approprIate Internal relationship
factors.
FIscal Impact
Funds requIred to support the salary rates recommended In the
attached ResolutIon have been approved by City CouncIl and are
reflected In the approprIate Departmental accounts in the adopted
1985-86 budget.
RecommendatIon
It IS recommended that the Council move to approve the aforemen-
tloned new and revIsed clasSIfIcation specifications and adopt
the attached Resolution establIshIng revIsed salary rates for
Assistant ParkIng Lot SupervIsor and Parking Lot SupervIsor, and
a new salary rate for ParkIng SupervIsor AssIstant.

REVISED SALARY RATES FOR THE POSITIONS OF
ASSISTANT PARKING LOT SUPERVISOR AND PARKING
LOT SUPERVISOR, AND A NEW SALARY RATE FOR
PARKING SUPERVISOR ASSISTANT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
