RMM: 1 mr 007 CIty CouncIl MeetIng 6-11-85 Santa MonIca~ CalIFornIa RESOLUTION NUMBER 7031(CCS) (CIty Council Se~Ies) A RESOLUTION OF T~E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING ADOPTION OF CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY BILL 1844 TO AMEND CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY CRIME RESISTANCE PROGRAM WHEREAS. on March 7, 1985, State Assembly Member Thomas Hayden Introduced Assembly BIll No. 1844 whIch would amend varIOUS sectIons of the CalIfornIa State Penal Code pertaInIng to the Ca I I for n I a Commun It Y CrIme ResIstance Program ("Program"); and WHEREAS, such Assembly 8111 (as amended In legIslatIve seSSIon) would guarantee contInued fundIng of saId Program, Increase the maXImum annual grant awards avaIlable, and restrIct the use of funds granted to a speCIfIed lIst of actIVItIes; and WHEREAS, the CIty of Santa MonIca 15 a potentIal app llcant ~or and reCIpIent of fundIng prOVIded by such Program, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF T~E CITY OF SANTA MONICA ODES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The amendments to the CalIfornIa Penal Code proposed by sald Assembly 8111 No. 1844 wouid beneflt c1ty and 1 "- . . '- _county gove~~ments by a5~urlng contInued fundIng of the CommunIty CrIme ResI~tance Program and providing Increased annual qrant awards far purposes of Implementing the goals of said Proaram Addltlonally the scope of uses whIch qualIfy for thIS fundIng would be redrawn. SECTION 2. The Cd).' CounCIl of Santa Monica supports the eXIsting California CommunIty Crime ReSIstance Program as a means of assuring greater health, safety and securIty for the CItizens of Santa Monica. The CIty CounCIl hereby offICially endorses Assembly Bill No. 1844 as necessary legIslatIon to assure the contInUIng eXIstence and adequate fundIng of thIS valuable Program which actIvely seeks to prevent crIme and Improve the qualIty of lIfe In CalifornIa communitIes.
