SUBJECT: Resolution Designating Local Representative for Purpose
of Obtaining certain Federal Disaster Assistance
Introduction
The accompanying resolution designates the city of Santa Monica's
current local representative for the purpose of obtaining certain
federal financial assistance under the Disaster Relief Act. The
city Council had previously adopted Resolution Number 6635 (CCS)
in February, 1983, which designated then city Manager John
Alschuler as the local agent. It is necessary for the Council to
repeal the previous resolution and adopt a current resolution
naming city Manager John Jalili as the local agent so that all
claims and requests for payments made in relation to Federal
Disaster Assistance are filed in accordance with federal
regulations.
Budget Impact
The recommended action has no budget or fiscal impact.
Recommendation
Staff respectfully recommends that the accompanying resolution be
adopted.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DESIGNATING LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE
FOR PURPOSE OF OBTAINING CERTAIN
FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is a municipal
corporation duly organized and validly existing under the laws of
the State of California with the power to carryon its business
as it is now being conducted under the statutes of the State of
California and the Charter of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica desires to obtain
certain Federal financial assistance under the Disaster Relief
Act (Public Law 288, 93rd Congress), or otherwise available from
the President's Disaster Relief Fund,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Santa Monica authorizes John
Jalili, City Manager, to execute for and in behalf of the city
application for certain Federal financial assistance under the
Disaster Relief Act or otherwise available from the president.s
Disaster Relief Fund and file such application in the appropriate
State office.
SECTION 2. The City of Santa Monica authorizes its
agent to provide to the State and to the Federal Emergency

Management Agency (FEHA) for all matters pertaining to such
Federal disaster assistance the assurances and agreements
attached hereto.
SECTION 3. Resolution Number 6635 (CCS) is repealed.
SECTION 4. The city Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
