Resolutlon Extendlng Proclamatlons of Local Emergency
On January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Services.
pursuant to ~unlclpal Code Seetlon 2305, proclaimed a local
emergency to exist wlthin the City of Santa Monlca and made and
issued certa~n rules and regulatlons.
On February 1, 1983, the
Clty Council adopted Resolut~on Number 6621 (CCS) rat~fying,
confirming. and approving the Dlrector of Emergency Serv~ces'
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules. regulations, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
On March l.
1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces.
pursuant to Municipal Code Section 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to exist wlthln the City of Santa Monica and made and

emergency. At the present t1ille, cond1t1ons do not warrant the
terminat10n of the local emergency.
RECOMMENDATION
It 15 respectfully recommended that the accompanY1ng
re501ut1on be adopted.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Sect~on 2305 authorizes the
Dlrector of Emergency Serv~ces to proclalm the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in sess~on, and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme per~l to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the Clty of Santa Monica caused by storm, hlgh tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not 1n seSSlon on January 27,
1983, and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the C1ty of Santa Monica dld proclaim the eXlstence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the City Council adopted

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme

WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of
conditions giving rlse to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the Clty of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency wlthin the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the Clty
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist ln the Clty of Santa Monica until its
termination is proclaimed by the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dlrector of Emergency SerVlces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXlst in the Clty of Santa Monica untll its
termlnation is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
