Resolution Extend1ng Proclamations of Local EMergency
On January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Services,
pursuant to Munlcipal Code Bectlon 2305, proclaimed a local
emergency to exist withln the Clty of Santa Monica and made and
issued certain rules and regulat1ons.
On February 1, 1983, the
Clty CounCll adopted Resol ut ion Nunber 6621 (CCS) rati fying,
confirming, and approvlng the Director 0 f Emerg ency Se rv ices ·
proclamation of local emergency and the rules, regulations, and
actions taken pursuant thereto.
On March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Services,
pursuant to Mun~cipal Code Sectlon 2305, proclaimed a local
emergency to exist within the City of Santa Monica and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulat1ons. On March 8, 1983, the City
Council adopted Resolut~on NUMber 6642 (CCS) ratifying,
confirming, and approving the Director of Emergency Services I
proclamation of local emergency and the rules, regulations, and
act~ons taken pursuant thereto.
Government Code Section 8630 requlres that the City Council
reVlew at least every 14 days the need for continuing the local

emergency. At the present tlme, conditions do not warrant the
termination of the local emergency.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
resolution be adopted.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in session~ and
WHEREAS, commenc1ng on January ~27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons~ and property have arisen
within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf~ and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of
conditions giving rise to the emergency~ and
WHEREAS, on March I, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica~ and
WHEREAS, on March 9, 1993, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services~ and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW. THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
termlnation is proclaimed by the Ci ty Counc i 1 of the Ci ty of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March I, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenc~forth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
