On February 1, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted Reso1utlon Number 6621 (CCS) ratifYlng, conflnTl1.ng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Serv lces ' proClaI'latlon of local emergency and the rules, regulatlons, and act10ns taken pursuant thereto. On March 1, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency Serv~ces, pursuant to Municipal Code Section 2305, proclaimed a local eMergency to exist wlth1n the City of Santa Monica and made and lssued certaln rules and regulatlons. On March 8, 1983, the City Councll adopted Resolut1on Number 6642 (CCS) ratlfying, conf~rming, and approving the Director of Emergency Services r proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulatlons, and actlons taken pursuant thereto. Government Code Sectlon 8630 requires that the Clty Councl1 rev~ew at least every 14 days the need for continulng the local 6-/3 1 JUN 1 4 1983 ~ emergency. At the present tlme, cond1 tlons do not warrant the termlnation of the local emergency. RECOMMENDATION It lS respectfully recommended that the accompanYlng resolutlon be adopted. Jl'rs<?\- O:'~l- 5E.\iD FOUR COPIES OF AU, 0ROTNANC:F:'; TO: PRESIDI'\G JUDGE SA~TA ~O~ICA MUNICIPAL COURT 1725 \IAI\ STREET SANTA ~O~ICA, CA 90401 TOTAL COPIES ;If f _.:...!: -- ~ ) ~ CA:RMM:rrnemerg9 City Council Meeting 6-14-83 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 6698(CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City Council is not in session: and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf: and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and 1 .. ,A WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of conditions giving rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, sha 11 be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is proclaimed by the Ci ty Counci 1 of the Ci ty of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of Santa Monica. 2 .. .....
