Resolutlon Extend~ng Proclamatlons of Local Emergency
On January 27, 1983, the D~rector of Eroergency Servlces,
pursuant to Munlclpal Code Sectlon 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to eXlst w1thin the Clty of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulatlons.
On February 1, 1983, the
Cl ty CounC11 adopted Resol utlon Number 6621 (CCS) ra ti fying,
COnflrInlng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Serv lees'
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulatlons, and
actions taken pursuant thereto.
On March I, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Serv ices,
pursuant to Munlcipal Code Sectlon 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to eX1st wlthln the City of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulations.
On March 8, 1983, the Clty
Councll adopted Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS) ratifYlng,
conflrmlng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces'
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulations, and
actions taken pursuant thereto.
Government Code Sectlon 8630 requlres that the Clty Council
reVlew at least every 14 days the need for continulng the local

termlnat10n of the local emergency.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Munlcipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the eX1stence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monlca 15 affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council 1S not in seSSlon; and
WHEREAS, cOlTlrr'encing on January 27, 1983, cond1tlons of
extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wlthin the Clty of Santa Monlca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf~ and
~lliEREAS, the Clty Council was not ln session on January 27,
1 98 3; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Dlr ector 0 f Emerg ency
Servlces of the Clty of Santa Mon1ca dld proclaim the eXlstence
of a local emergency wlthin the Clty of Santa Monica: and
nHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted
Resolut1on Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirmlng, and
approving, the proclaMation of local emergency by the Dlrector of
E~ergency Services: and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, condltions of extreme
perll to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the Clty of Santa Monlca caused by storm, hlgh tldes, and heavy
surf: and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of
condltlons giving rise to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency
SerVlces of the City of Santa Monica did proclal~ the existence
of a local emergency wlthin the Clty of Santa Monlca: and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, conflrmlng, and
approvlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Councll has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local elT'ergency as procl almed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Servlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deeMed to contlnue to eXlst in the Clty of Santa Monica until its
_ermlnation is proclalmed by the Clty Councll of the Clty of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to contin ue to exist in the Ci ty of Santa Monica until its
termlnation is proclalmed by the City Council of the Clty of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
th1S Resolut10n, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
