On January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency SerVlces,
pursuant to Munlclpal Code Sectlon 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to eXlst wlthln the Cl ty of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulatlons.
On February I, 1983, the
Cl ty Councll adopted Resol utlon Number 6621 (CCS) ra tlfYlng,
conrlrnung, and approvlng the D1rector of Emergency Servlces'
proclamatlon of local emer~ency and the rules, regulations, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
On March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces,
pursuant to MunlClpal Code Sectlon 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to eXlst wlthln the Clty of Santa Monlca and made anrl
lssued certaln rules and regulatlons. On March 8, 1983, the Clty
CounCll adopted Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS) ratlfYlng,
conflrmlng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces'
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulatlons, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
Government Code Sectlon 8630 requlres that the C1ty Councll
reVlew at least every 14 days the need for contlnulng the

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Mun~clpal Code Sectlon 2305 authorizes the
Dlrector of Emergency SerVlces to proclalm the eXlstence or
threatened ex~stence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamlty
and the Clty Council is not in session; and
WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, condi t~ons of
extreme perl1 to the safety of persons and property ha~~ arisen
wlthin the Clty of Santa Mon~ca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Council was not in session on January 27,
1983j and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency
SerVlces of the Clty of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency withln the Clty of Santa Monlca: and
~iHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Council adopted
Resolut1.0n Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying. confirming, and
approving, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces; and

WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, condlt1ons of extreme
per11 to the safety of persons and property have arisen Wl thin
the Clty of Santa Mon1ca caused by storm, h1gh tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the C1ty Counc1l was not 1n session at the time of
conditlons glving rlse to the ~~ergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency
SerVlces of the Clty of Santa Mon1ca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Mon1ca: and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the CLty Council adopted
Resolut1on Number 6642 (CCS), rat1fYlng, conflrming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the D1rector of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Counc1l has rev1ewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY UP SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
. D1rector of Emergency SerV1ces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contlnue to exist in the Clty of Santa Monica unt1l its
termlnatlon 18 proclalmed by the Cl ty Councll of the C1 ty of
Santa MOD1ca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to ex 1st ln the City of Santa Monica until its
term1nat1on is procla1med by the City Counc11 of the Clty of
Santa Monlca.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.

Resolutlon Extendlng Proclamatlons of Local E~ergency
On January 27, 1983, the D2rector of Emergency Services,
pursuant to Munlcipal Code Sect20n 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to eX1st wlthln the Clty of Santa Monica and made and
issued certaln rules and regulat1ons.
On February 1, 1983. the
City Council adopted Resolutlon Number 6621 (CCS) ratifying,
conflrM1ng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Services I
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulatlons, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
On March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Serv1ces,
pursuant to Munlc2pal Code Sectlon 2305. proclaimed a local
emergency to eX1.st Wl thln the City of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulat1ons. On March 8, 1983. the Clty
Councl1 adopted Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS) ratlfY1ng,
conflrm1ng, and approvlng the Dlrector 0 f Emergency Serv 1.ces I
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regula t1.ons, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
Government Code Sectlon 8630 requlres that the C1.ty Councll
revlew at least every 14 days the need for contlnulng the local

RECOMMENDATION
