CONTI~ED EXISTENC~ OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY

Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emerqency SerV1ces to proclalm the ex~stence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the C1ty of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council 1S not in session: and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditlons of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
w~thln the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf: and
W~~REAS, the City Counc~l was not ln session on January 27,
1983: and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the Clty of Santa Monica did proclain the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the City Councll adopted

WHEREAS, the City Council was not 1n seSSlon at the tine of

WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the D~rector of Emergency
SerVlces of the Clty of Santa Monlca did proclaim the eXlstence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifYlng, confirmlng, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Gover~ent Code Section 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to eXlst in the City of Santa Monica until its
terminatlon is proclaimed by the City Councl1 of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
termination 15 proclaimed by the City Councll of the City of
Santa Monica.

WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a loca~ emergency When the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Council is not in sess~on; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, condit~ons of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
withln the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf 1 and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency

WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resolut10n Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approv1ng, the proc1amat1on of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to cont1nue to exist in the City of Santa Mon1ca until its
termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
termination is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Mon1ca.
