Resolutlon Extendlng Proclamatlons of Local Emergency
On January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces,
pursuant to Municlpal Code Sectlon 2305, proclaimed a local
emergency to eXlst withln the City of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulatlons.
On February I, 1983, the
Clty Councll adopted Resolutlon Number 6621
(ccs) ratlfYlng,
conflrming,
and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Services'
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulatlons, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
On March I,
1983,
the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces,
pursuant to Munlclpal Code Sectlon 2305, proclaimed a local
emergency to exist wlthln the Clty of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulatlons. On March 8, 1983, the City
Councll
adopted

ratlfYlng,
conflrmlng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Services'
proclamatlon of local emergency and the rules, regulations, and
actlons taken pursuant thereto.
Government Code Sectlon 8630 requlres that the Clty Councll
revlew at least every 14 days the need for contlnuing the local

At the present time, condltions do not warrant the
terminatlon of the local emergency.
RECOMMENDATIO~

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
Mun1cipal
Code Section 2305 authorizes the
D~rector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened eX1stence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Mon~ca ~s affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the City Counc~l 15 not 1n seSS1on: and
WHEREAS,
commenc~ng on January 27, 1983,
condit~ons of
extreme per1l to the safety of persons and property have ar~sen
w1thin the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high t1des, and
heavy surf~ and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not 1n seSS10n on January 27,
1983: and
WHEREAS,
on January 27, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency
Servlces of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS,
on February 1,
1983, the City Counel1 adopted

WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Seetlon 8630, the C1ty
Caunel1 has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
D1rector of Emergency Services on January 27,
1983, shall be
deemed to contl.nue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
teImlnation is proclaimed by the City Counc1l of the City of
Santa Mon1ca.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as proclalmed by the
D~rector af Emergency Serv1ces on March 1, 1983. shall be deemed
to cont1nue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its
term~natlon ~s proclalmed by the C~ty Councll of the Cl.ty of
Santa Monlca.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
th~s Resolut1on, and thenceforth and ~hereafter the same shall be
1n full force and effect.
