On February 1, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted Resolutlon Number 6621 (ces) ratifYlng, conflrm1ng, and approvlng the Dlrector of Emergency Serv1ces' proclamation of local emergency and the rules, regulations, and actlons taken pursuant thereto. On March I, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services, pursuant to Municipal Code Section 2305, proclaimed a local emergency to exist within the Clty of Santa Monlca and made and lssued certa1n rules and regulations. On March~, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted Resolutlon Number 6b42 lecs) rat~fY1ng, conf~rmlng, and approving the Dlrector of Emergency Serv1ces' proclamation of local emergency and the rules, regulations, and actions taken pursuant thereto. Government Code Section 8630 requires that the City Council reVlew at least every 14 days the need for contlnulng the local 1 (p -7) AUG 1 " '1M emergency. At the present time, cond~tions do not warrant the term~natlon of the local emergency. RECOMMENDATION It 18 respectfully recommended that the accompanying resolution be adopted. CA:RMM:rmemerg9 Clty Council Meeting 8-14-84 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 6893(CCS) (City council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Munlcipal Code Sectlon 2305 authorizes the Dlrector of EMergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when the Clty of Santa Monlca is affected or likely to be affected by a publlC calamity and the City Council is not in session: and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, condltlons of extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arisen w~th~n the C~ty of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf: and WHEREAS, the Clty Council was not in session on January 27, 1983~ and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the Clty of Santa Monica did proclaim the eXlstence of a local emergency within the Clty of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Council adopted Resolutlon Number 6621 lCCS), ratifYlng, conflrmlng, and approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services; and 1 - WHERR~S, commencing on March 1, 1983, condltions of extreme peril to the safety of persons the C1ty of Santa Monica caused surf: and WHEREAS, the C1ty Council was not in seSSlon at the t1me of and property have arisen within by storm, hlgh t1des, and heavy condltions glving r1se to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency Servlces of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 6642 {CCS), ratifY1ng, confirm1ng, and approv~ng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces: and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the Clty Council has reviewed the need to contlnue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the D1rector of Emergency Services On January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to eX18t ln the C1ty of Santa Monica untll lts terrnlnatlon 18 proclalmed by the Clty Council of the City of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Dlrector of Emergency Services on March I, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its terrnlnation 1S proclalmed by the Clty Council of the City of Santa Monica. 2 SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall cert1fy to the adoption of thlS Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be ln tull force and effect.
