A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
MunICIpal
Code SectIon 2305 authorIzes the
DIrector of Emergency ServIces co proclalm the eXIstence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
MonIca IS affected or lIkely to be affected by a pUblIC calamity
and the CIty CouncIl IS not 1n seSSIon; and
WHEREAS,
commencIng on January 27, 1983, condItIons of
extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have arIsen
WIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hIgh tIdes, and
heavy surfj and
WHEREAS, the CIty CouncIl was not In session on January 27,
1983j and
WHEREAS)
on January 27, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the City of Santa Monlca dld proclaIm the eXistence
of a local emergency WIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the CIty Councl1 adopted

Emergency SerVIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the CIty
CounCIl has reVIewed the need to contlnue the local emergency,
NOW~ THEREFORE] THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaImed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contInue to eXIst 1n the CIty of Santa MonIca untIl Its
termInatIon IS proclaImed by the CIty CounCIl of the C)~y of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaImed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXIst In the CIty of Santa MonIca untIl Its
termInatIon is proclaImed by the CIty CounCIl of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certIfy to the adoptIon of
thIS ResolutIon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
