Government Code SectIon 8630 reqUIres that the CIty CounCIl
review at least every 14 days the need for contInUIng the local

At the present tlme, condltlons do not warrant the
termlnatlon of the local emergency.
RECOMMENDATION
It 15 respectfully recommended that the accompanYIng
resolutIon be adopted.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
Munlcipal
Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the eX1stence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or lIkely to be affected by a public calamlty
and the City Counell 1S not In session; and
WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, condltlons of
extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arlsen
wIthln the City of Santa Mon1ca caused by storm, hlgh tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Councll was not 1n seSSlon on January 27,
1983; and

WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica dld proclaim the existence
of a local emergency w1thln the Clty of Santa Mon1ca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted

WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
CounCIl has reVIewed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaImed by the
DIrector of Emerge~cy SerVIces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist In the CIty of Santa MonIca until Its
termInatIon is proclaImed by the CIty CounCIl of the CIty of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as proclaImed by the
Director of Emergency SerVIces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the CIty of Santa Monica untIl Its
terminatIon is proclaImed by the CIty Council of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption of
thiS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
