On January 27, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Servlces,
pursuant to Munlclpal Code Sectlon 2305, proclalmed a local
emergency to eXlst wlthln the City of Santa Monlca and made and
lssued certaln rules and regulatlons.

emergency to eXlst WIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca and made and

CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
MunICIpal

DIrector of Emergency SerVIces to proclaIm the eXIstence or
threatened eXIstence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa
Monlca 15 affected or llkely to be affected by a publIC calamIty
and the City Council IS not In seSSIon; and
WHEREAS, commencIng on January 27, 1983;

approvlng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Serv1ces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the C1ty
CounCil has reVIewed the need to contInue the local emergency:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaImed by the
D~rector of Emergency Serv~ces on January 27; 1983] shall be
deemed to continue to eXist ~n the City of Santa Monica untll ~ts
termInatIon 1S proclaimed by the CIty CounCIl of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as procla~med by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on March 1; 1983] shall be deemed
to cont~nue to eXIst In the CIty of Santa MonIca unt~l Its
terminat~on IS proclaImed by the C1ty Counc~l of the CIty of
Santa MOOIca.

WHEREAS} commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the s~fety of persons and property have arisen
Within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides: and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS: the City CounCil was not In session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVices of the CIty of Santa Monica did proclaiM the e~15tence
of a local emergency Within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,
1983, the CIty CounCil adopted

CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
MunIcipal
Code SectIon 2305 authorizes the
DIrector of Emergency ServIces to proclaIm the eXIstence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
MonIca IS affected or lIkely to be affected by a publIC calamIty
and the City Council is not in session; and_
WHEREAS, commenc1ng on January 27, 1983, condItions of
extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have arIsen
WIthin the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City CouncIl was not 1n seSSIon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27J 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the City of Santa MonIca dId proclaIm the eX1stence
of a local emergency withIn the CIty of Santa Mon1ca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983} the CIty Council adopted

ResolutIon Number 6642 (CCS), ratIfYing, confirming, and
approvIng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency SerVices; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the City
Council has revIewed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contInue to exist in the CIty of Santa Monica until its
termInatIon is proclaimed by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaImed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVices on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXist in the CIty of Santa Monica until its
terminatIon IS proclaImed by the CIty Council of the City of
Santa MonIca.
