Adoption of Resolution Establishing salary for
Fleet Maintenance supervisor, Recycling Crew Leader
and Traffic operations Supervisor
INTRODUCTION
This report requests adoption of the attached salary resolutions
establishing the salary rates for these classifications.
BACKGROUND
The Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Santa Monica
and the Supervisory Team Association (STA) effective July 1, 1987
to June 30, 1989 states the following:
"During the life of this MOU, supervisors covered
herein shall maintain a differential in pay over
their subordinate employees. The differential for
all supervisors I except Motor Coach supervisors,
shall be determined by setting the E-step salary
for the supervisory classification at a position on
the salary matrix which provides at least ten
percent (10%) more than the E-step salary of the
classification of their highest paid subordinateill
The classifications of Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, Recycling
Crew Leader and Traffic Operations Supervisor are represented by
the STA bargaining unit and are covered by the above clause. The
E-step salaries of these three classifications are currently

being paid less than the ten percent (10%) differential required
by the MOO.
The attached salary resolutions will result in
E-step salaries for each of these three classifications of ten
percent (10%) higher than the E-step salaries of their highest
paid subordinate.
BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
No budget changes are needed at this time to implement this
salary change.
RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached salary
resolutions establishing new salary rates for these position
classifications.
