In addItIon, thIS report requests approval of the attached ResolutIons establIshIng salary rates for the new clasSIfIcatIons. Background - New ClasSIfIcatIon SpecIfIcatIons and Salary Rates ConservatIon CoordInator 15 a new posItIon In the Water DIVISIon of the General SerVIces Department. CreatIon of the posItIon was orIgInally recommended by the consultIng firm of Brown and Cald- well as part of theIr report to the CIty regardIng the Water Master Plan In FY 1984-1985. The posItIon WIll be prImarIly responsIble for the desIgn and ImplementatIon of a broad varIety of publIC InformatIon programs related to water and energy con- servatIon. The ConservatIon CoordInator wIll work wIth utIlity companIes, commercIal and IndustrIal concerns, reSIdentIal users and the general publIC. Based upon an analysis of lnternal- relatIonship factors, an E-Step rate of $2,593.;month ($2,774./ fA. (} f?r 11 1986 - 1 - month wIth PERS) IS recommended, parallel to FIre Safety SpecIalIst. CrIme AnalYSIs/PreventIon UnIt SuperVIsor lS a new claSSIfIcatIon specIfIcatIon, Intended to reclassIfy a vacant posItIon In the PolIce Department, currently classIfIed at the AdmInIstratIve Analyst level. The posItIon WIll be assumIng full supervIsory dutIes over the unIt. Based on an analysIs of Internal alIgnment factors, an E-Step rate of $345l./month ($3692./month with PERS) IS recommended. PIer Manager is a new claSSIfIcatIon specIfIcatIon, Intended to reclassIfy a posItIon currently classIfIed at the SenIor Adminis- tratIve Analyst level. In the FY 1985-1986 budget, PIer MaIn- tenance was establIshed as a separate dIvIsIon of the General ServIces Department. The proposed specIfIcatIon IS consIstent WIth those coverIng comparable dIvIsion head posItIons throughout the CIty.
