Approval of New Classification Specification and
Adoption of Resolution Establishing Salary Rate for
Airport Operations and Facilities Superintendent
Introduction
This report requests approval of one new classiflcation
specification, approved by the Personnel Board at their regular
meetlng of April 22, 1987. In addition, this report requests
approval of the attached Resolution establishing a salary rate
for the new classification.
Background - New Classification Specification and Salary Rate
Airport Operations and Facilities superintendent is a new posi-
tion, intended to reclassify a positlon currently classified as
T~ansportation Program Specialist at the Airport. The position
will have primary responsibilities in the followi~g areas:
1. Acting as project monitor for the rehabllitation of the
Airport;
2. Developing and monltoring of the Airport Safety Plan;
3. Continulng monltoring of the Airport Layout Plan; and
4. On-going supervision and management of the Airport's
mainte~ance, cperatio~s, and secu~ity functlons.
Based on an a~alysls of i~ternal alignme~t cOi-siderations, an

E-Step rate of $4,118 per month ($4406 per month with PERS) is
recommended.
Fiscal Impact
The Airport budget includes sufficient salary savings to cover
the additional salary costs involved for the balance of the cur-
rent fiscal year, and no additional allocation of funds is re-
quired to support this recommendation at this time.
Recommendation
It is recommended that council approve the new classiflcation of
Airport Operations and Facilities Superintendent, and adopt the
attached Resolution establishing the salary rate for the new
position.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ADOPTING SALARY RATE
FOR THE POSITION OF AIRPORT OPERATIONS AND
FACILITIES SUPERINTENDENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The following monthly salary level is hereby
established for the indicated permanent classifications,
effective May 12, 1987:

SECTION 2: The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
