BACKGROUND In the past, the city of Santa Monica has donated surplus Fire Department equipment and apparatus to the Mazatlan Fire Department under the auspices of the sister cities Program. The last donation occurred in 1986 when a 1961 Pirsch Aerial/Pumper was delivered to the Mazatlan Volunteer Fire Department. A 1981 Chevrolet Malibu 4 door sedan, currently being used by the Training Division, has been budgeted for replacement because of the vehicle's mileage of approximately 90,000 miles. Auction value is estimated by the Purchasing Department to be only $500.00. The Fire Chief of Mazatlan, currently responds to emergencies on a three wheel motorcycle so that procurement of this vehicle by Mazatlan will upgrade their operations. - 1 - Co-H OCT i 0 .i~~h,..1 .~- ~ . .
