ResolutIon ExtendIng Proclamations of Local Emergency
On January 27} 1983, the DIrector of Emergency SerVIces}
pursuant to MunICIpal Code SectIon 2305, proclaimed a local
emergency to eXlst wIthIn the CIty of Santa Honlca and made and
Issued certaln rules and regulatIons.
On February 1, 1983} the
CIty Councll adopted ResolutIon Number 6621 (eCS) ratIfYIng}
confIrmIng, and apprOVIng the DIrectOr of Emergency SerVIces'
proclamatIon of local emergency and the rules, regulatIons, and
actIons taken pursuant thereto.
On March 1, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency Services,
pursuant to MunICIpal Code SectIon 2305, proclaImed a local
emergency to eXIst WIthIn the CIty of Santa Monlca and made and
Issued certaIn rules and regulatIons. On March B} 1983, the City
CounCil
adopted

6642 (CCS) ratIfYIng,
confIrmIng, and apprOVIng the Director of Emergency SerVIces'
proclamatIon of local emergency and the rules, regulatIons, and
actions taKen pursuant thereto.
Government Code SectIon 8630 reqUIres that the CIty Councll
reVIew at least every 14 days the need for contlnulng the local

emergency. At the present tIme, conditIons do not warrant the
termInation of the local emergency.
RECOMMENDATION

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Director of Emergency Servlces to proclaIm the eXistence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the Clty of Santa
Monlca IS affected or lIkely to be affected by a publIC calamIty
and the CIty CounCIl IS not In seSSl0nj and
WHEREAS, commenCIng on January 27, 1983, condItIons of
extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have arIsen
Within the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hIgh tIdes, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City CounCil was not In seSSIon on January 27,
1983j and
WHEREAS, on January 27} 1983} the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the CIty of Santa MonIca dId proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency WIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1}
1983, the City CounCil adopted

WHEREAS, on March 8, 19B3, the CIty CounCIl adopted
ResolutIon Number 6642 (CCS), ratlfYIng, conflrmlng, and
apprOVIng, the proclamation of local emergency by the DIrector of
Emergency SerVIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the CIty
CounCIl has reVIewed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaImed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to eXist In the City of Santa Monica untIl ItS
termInation IS proclaImed by the CIty CounCil of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to contInue to eXist In the CIty of Santa MonIca untIl Its
termlnatIon 18 proclaImed by the CIty Councll of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certIfy to the adoptlon of
thlS Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
In full force and effect.
