Resolution Establishing salary for Reprographics
specialist I and Reprographics specialist II
Classification specifications
INTRODUCTION
This report requests adoption of the attached salary resolution
establishing the salary for Reprographics specialist I and
Reprographics specialist II classification specifications.
BACKGROUND
One of the functions of the Support Services Division of the City
Clerk f s Office is to provide in-house printing and duplicating
services to City departments.
The classifications originally
budgeted for that area are Support Services Supervisor and
Duplicating Machine Operator.
A study by Personnel Department staff, wi th consensus from the
Ci ty Clerk I s Off ice, determined that two new classif ica tions,
Reprographics Specialist I and Reprographics Specialist II, would
better meet the staffing needs of the division and more
appropriately reflect the nature and complexity of the duties
actually being performed by the employees in that division. It
is intended that the classification of Reprographics Specialist
II replace the classification of Support Services
supervisor,

which is currently vacant. The salary recommended for
Reprographics Specialist II is lower than the Support Services
supervisor Salary due to the deletion of certain supervisory
duties which have been assumed by the Assistant city Clerk. The
Reprographics Specialist I classification will replace the
Duplicating Machine operator classification, and the salary will
remain unchanged.
Both a salary survey of the outside labor market and an internal
equity alignment of these two classifications indicated that the
salaries being recommended are appropriate and competitive at
this time.
BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds are already included in the budget for FY89-90 to cover all
salary costs related to the adoption of this salary resolution.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached salary
resolution establishing the salary for the Reprographics
specialist I and Reprographics Specialist II classification
specifications.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ADOPTING SALARY RATE
FOR THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF REPROGRAPHICS SPECIALIST I
AND REPROGRAPHICS SPECIALIST II
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The following monthly salary levels are hereby
established
for the
indicated permanent classifications,
effective January 25, 1990.
REPROGRAPHICS SPECIALIST I
$2,170jMonth E-step
($2,322 Month with PERS)
REPROGRAPHICS SPECIALIST II
$2,824jMonth E-Step
($3,022 Month with PERS)
SECTION 2. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
