Adoption of Resolution Establishing Salary for Senior
Planner
INTRODUCTION
This report requests adoption of the attached salary resolution
establishing the salary rate for Senior Planner.
BACKGROUND
The purpose of the Senior Planner classification is to assist the
Principal Planner and Director of Planning in the day-to-day
management of current and advance planning. The Senior Planner
would assign minor application processing to Assistant and
Associate Planners and would supervise the operation of the
current planning public counter.
This would entail providing
guidance, direction and decision-making on minor interpretations
of the Zoning Ordinance and other regulations and procedures to
Assistant and Associate Planners and responding to members of the
public with special concerns or problems.
A recent salary survey of comparable cities has been conducted.
Internal equity factors have also been considered.
Salary
recommendations reflect these cOmbined factors.
BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
This is a new position that was created as a part of the FY90-91

budget. Funds are included in the FY90-9l budget to cover all
salary costs related to the adoption of this salary resolution.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached salary
resolution establishing the new salary rate for this position
classification.

FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF
SENIOR PLANNER
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The following monthly salary level
is hereby established for the indicated permanent classification,
effective November 14, 1990

SECTION 2: The city Clerk s~all certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
