SUBJECT: Appropriation of $1000 for the California Solar and Energy
Conservation Development Authority (CalSECDA)
Introductlon
This report requests the City Council appropriate $1000 from the Genera'
Fund for expenses related to CalSECDA meetings and workshops. This is a
requirement of the part1clpation of each of the cities in the Joint powers
agreement of CalSECDA.

In November of 1979~ the City Counc1l authorized a joint powers agreement
with five other cities to form the California Solar Utility Development
Authority (CSUDA). The CSUDA agreement expired January 1981. On May 12,
1981~ Council approved Santa Monica's participation in a renewed joint
powers agreement. CalSECDA was subsequently formed. CalSECDA includes
five of the original cities plus nine new jurisdictions.
The California Energy Commission, who is funding CalSECDA~ is requiring a
$1000 contributlon from each Jurisdlction. The $1000 will be used to defray
expenses related to CalSECDA meetings and workshops.
Recommendation
Staff recommends City Council appropriate $1000 from the General Fund to be
used for expenses related to Santa Monica's participation in the Californla
Solar and Energy Conservation Development Authority.
