SUBJECT: Set Public Hearing on February 26. 1980, for Assessment of Costs for
Tree Planting D1stricts 1 and 2 on Santa Monica Blvd.

Introductlon
This report requests Clty Council to set a pUbl1C hearlng for the assessment
of costs of Tree Planting Distr1cts 1 and 2 on Santa Mon1ca Blvd. between
Lincoln Blvd. and 14th St.
Background
On February 27. 1979, the City Council ordered the planting of trees on Santa
Monica Blvd. between L1ncoln Blvd. and 11th St.. and on May 22. 1979. the
Council ordered the plant1ng of trees between 11th and 14th Streets. The
work has been completed and the property owner's share of the costs will now
be due. A public hearing must be held pursuant to Sectlon 5882 of the Streets
and H1ghway Code of the State of Ca11fornia. A resolutlon conf1rming the
assessments and settlng the publlC hearing lS attached.
Recommendat1on
It 1S recommended that the Clty Council adopt the attached resolutlon settlng
a public hearing for February 26, 1980. on the assessment of costs of this
tree planting.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE FILING OF REPORT OF WORK
AND SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR
OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTE~DENT OF
STREETS REGARDING TREE PLANTING ASSESSMENT DISTRICTS
NO. 1 AND 2 ON SANTA MONICA BLVD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets has filed a report
of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of California, relating to the constructlon of certain improvements completed
on:
Santa Monica Boulevard between Lincoln Boulevard and
Fourteenth Street within the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5870, et seq. of said Code,
the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 26th day of
February, 1980, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it will hear and pass
upon any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the
Superintendent of Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned agalnst
the real property descrlbed in said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in writing and
flled with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests
and objections.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to mail notlces, in
the manner and form prescrlbed by law, of the adoption of this resolution to
all persons owning real property in the hereinbefore described assessment
dlstricts whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment
roll for city taxes or as known to the City Clerk.

SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
