Introductlon
ThlS report requests the C1ty Councl1 set a Public Hearing for the assessment
of costs of Tree Plantlng District No.4 on Santa Mon1ca Blvd. between 17th
and 20th Streets.
Background
On November 13, 1979, the Clty Councl1 ordered the planting of trees on Santa
Mon1ca Blvd. between 17th and 20th Streets (Item 7-B). The work has been
completed and property owner's share of the costs will now be due. A pub11C
hearlng must be held pursuant to Section 5882 of the Callfornla Streets and
Highway Code. A resolut1on settlng the publlC hearlng is attached. A Property
Map and Assessment Roll wl11 be presented wlth the Staff Report at the time
of the Publ1C Hear1ng.
Recommendat1on
It 1$ recommended the City Councll adopt the attached resolution setting a
public hearing for November 25, 1980. on the assessment of costs of this tree
planting.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SA~TA MONICA SETTI~G A HEARING DATE FOR ANY
PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE CONFIRMATION OF
ASSESSMENTS IN TREE PLANTING ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
NO. 5 ON SANTA MONICA BOULEVARD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLm~S:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets wlll file a report of
work pursuant to Sectlon 5882 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of Callfornia, relatlng to the constructlon of certaln improvements completed
on:
Santa Monlca Boulevard between 17th Street and 20th Street
wlthin the Clty of Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5870, et seq. of said Code, the
City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 25th day of ~ovember,
1980, in the Council Chambers of the Clty Hall, lt will hear and pass upon any
and all obJectlons or protests to the report of work of the Superintendent of
Streets, and the amount of the assessment asslgned agalnst the real property
described In said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or obJections must be In writlng and filed
wlth the Clty Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests and
objections.

SECTION 4. The C1ty Clerk lS hereby dlrected to mall notlces,
ln the manner and form prescr1bed by law, of the adoptlon of thlS resolutlon
to all persons ownlng I~al property ln the herelnbefore described assessment
dlstrict whose names and addresses appear on the last equallzed assessment
roll for Clty taxes or as known to the Clty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of thlS
resolutlon. and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
