Introduction
This report recommends that the City Councl1 approve the attached Resolution
of Intention for planting trees on Llncoln Boulevard from Ocean Park Blvd, to
the South City Llmits,
Backgroun.!i
The City Council at their meetlng on April 26, 1977, authorized the City Staff
to proceed on a tree planting program on Lincoln Boulevard in accordance with
Chapter 27 of the Improvement Act of 1911. The portion of Lincoln Boulevard
from Ocean Park BOUlevard to the South City Limits is the last of the tree
planting districts.
The City or the property owner may do the planting. The estimated assessment
cost to the abutting property owners lS $1.50 per front foot, as in all of
the previous districts,
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution of
Intention WhlCh sets a public hearing for ~ovember 14, 1978,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO PLANT TREES
ALONG LINCOLN BOULEVARD BETWEEN OCEAN PARK BOULEVARD
AND THE SOUTH CITY LIMITS \~ITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA, (TREE PLANTING DISTRICT NO.6)
WHEREAS, the City Counci1 of the City of Santa Monica is
empowered by Section 5870, et seq. of the Streets and Highways Code of
the State of California to plant trees at various locations within the
City of Santa Monica;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest requires and it is the
lntention of the Clty Councll of the City of Santa Monica to order the
following work to be done, to wit: The planting of trees along Lincoln
Boulevard from Ocean Park Blvd, to the South City Limits all in the City
of Santa Monica. The estimated assessment cost of the imorovement is $1.50
per front foot to the abutting property owners and the balance of the cost
to be borne by the City.
SECTION 2. That sald proposed work or 1mprovement, in the opinlon
of the City Council of the City of Santa Monica, 1S of more than local or
ordlnary publ1C benefit, and said Council hereby proposes that the district
in the City of Santa Monica to be benefitted by said work or improvement and
to be assessed to pay the cost and expense thereof, includes all of the
property abutting Llncoln Boulevard between Ocean Park Blvd, and the South
City L im1ts.

SECTION 3. Notice hereby is glven pursuant to said Section 5870
et seq, that on November 14, 1978, at the hour of 7:30 p.rn, 1n the Counc11
Chambers of the City Hall of said City of Santa Monica, situated at
1685 Main Street in said City~ any and all persons havlng any objections to
the proposed work or improvement may appear before the Clty Councll and
show cause why the said proposed work or lmprovement should not be carried
out 1n accordance with said Resolution of Intention.
SECTION 4. The Superlntendent of Streets lmmediately shall cause
to be conspicuously posted along the 1,ne of said contemplated lmprovement
notlce of the passage of this Resolutlon of Intentlon 1n the manner and form
prescr1bed by law.
The City Clerk hereby is d1rected to mail notices, 1n the manner
and form prescribed by law. of the adopt1on of this resolution to all persons
owning real property in the here1nbefore described assessment distr1ct.
whose names and addresses appear on the last equallzed assessment roll for
C1ty taxes or as known to the City Clerk,
SECTION 5. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoDtion of this
resolut1on and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect,
