SUBJECT: Assessment of Costs for Tree Planting District No. 5
on Lincoln Boulevard T-78-5
Introduction
This report 15 requesting City Council to set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs of Tree Planting District 5 on Lincoln Blvd. between
Pacific Street and Ocean Park Boulevard.
Background
On January 10, 1978, the Clty Council ordered the planting of trees on
Lincoln between Pacific Street and Ocean Park Boulevard, The work has been
completed and the property owner's share of the costs will now be due. A
public hearing must be held pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and
Highway Code of the State of California. A resolutlon confirming the
assessments and setting the public hearing is attached.
Recommendat1on
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution setting
a public hearing for April 24, 1979, on the assessment of costs of the
subject tree plantings.

RESOLUTION NO. 5221 (CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE FILING OF REPORT OF
WORK AND SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS
OR OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT
OF STREETS REGARDING TREE PLANTING ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT NO. 5 ON LINCOLN BLVD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS~
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets has fl1ed a
report of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and Highways Code
of the State of California, relating to the construction of certain
Improve~ents completed on:
Lincoln Boulevard between Paciflc Street and
Ocean Park Boulevard withln the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2, That pursuant to Section 5870. et seq. of said
code, the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 24th day
of April, 1979~ in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it will hear and
pass upon any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the
Superintendent of Streets and the amount of the assessment asslgned
against the real property described in said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in writing
and filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of
protests and objections.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.

to the City Council
Re: Completion of Tree Planting District #5
Lincoln Boulevard from Pacific Street to Ocean Park Boulevard
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 5882 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California, Resolution of Intention No.
5057 C.C.S., adopted July 25,1978, Resolution Ordering No. 5082 C.C.S.,
adopted August 22, 1978, the following work was completed on February 16,
1979, to wit:
The planting of fifty two (52) trees along Lincoln Boulevard,
between Pacific Street and Ocean Park Boulevard, within the City of
Santa r,lonica.
The total cost of the work to the property owners was $4,424.45.
The proposed assessment is $4,424.45: The assessment was made on the
basis of $1.50 per front foot.
Reference is made to the attached sheets for a description of the
real property in front of which the work has been done and the assessment
against each lot or parcel of land proposed to be levied to pay the
cost thereof.
