Introduction
This report is requesting City Council to set a public hearing for the
assessment of the costs of Tree Planting District #1 on lincoln Blvd. between
the Freeway and Broadway.
Background
On June 28. 1977. the City Council ordered the planting of trees on lincoln
between Broadway and the Freeway. The work has been completed and the prop-
erty owner's share of the costs will now be due. A public hearing must be
held pursuant to Sectlon 5882 of the Streets and Highway Code of the State
of California. A resolutlon confirming the assessments and setting the publlC
hearing is attached, together with assessment maps indicating parcels against
WhlCh liens will be filed. The owners' names and amount of assessment against
each are listed.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution settlng
a public hearing for Aprll 25. 1978. on the assessment of costs of the subject
tree plantlng.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE FILING OF
REPORT OF WORK AND SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR
ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF
THE SUPERIrlTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING 'iREE
PLANTING ASSESSr.1ENT DISTRICT NO. 1
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOHS:
SECTION 1. That the Superlntendent of Streets has filed a report
of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and H1ghways Code of the
State of California, relating to the construction of certain Improvements
completed on:
Lincoln Boulevard between the Santa Monica Freeway
and Broadway within the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5870, et seq. of said code,
the City Counc11 does hereby order and declare that on the 25th day of
April, 1978, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it w1ll hear and
pass upon any and all objections or protests to the report of work of the
Superintendent of Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned against
the real property described 1n said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be 1n writing and
filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing of protests
and objectlons.

along Lincoln Boulevard bet\-Jcen the Santa Nonien. Freeway and
Broadway within the City of Santa Monica. That all of said
protests and obJectio~s of every kind and natt~e to the proposed
\'rork or to the extent of the district to be assessed be and the
sade hereby are overruled and denied.
SECTION 2. The Stleet Superintendent hereby is directed
to commence the tree planting above described after a sixty (60)
day period \'lherever the property mmers have not started the tree
planting project thewselves. Wherever said i~provements were
installed by the street Superintendent> he shall prepare a Report
o~ Cost thercfor~ as preserib2d by law.
