Introduction
This report is requesting City Council to adopt the attached resolution
setting a public hearing for the assessment of the costs of Tree Planting
District #2 on Lincoln Blvd. between the Freeway and Pico Blvd.
Background
On September 27, 1977t the City Council ordered the planting of trees on
Lincoln Blvd. between Pica Blvd. and the Freeway. The work has been com-
pleted and the property owner's share of the costs will now be due. A
public hearing must be held pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and
Highway Code of the State of California. A resolution confirming the
assessments and setting the public hearing is attached, together with
assessment maps indicating parcels against which liens will be filed. The
owners' names and the amount of assessment against each are listed.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution setting
a public hearing for June 27, 1978, on the assessment of costs of the subject
tree planting.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE FILING OF REPORT OF
WORK AND SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS
OR OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE SUPERIUTENDENT
OF STREETS REGARDING TREE PLANTING ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT NO.2.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets has filed a report
of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California, relating to the construction of certain Improvements
completed on:
lincoln Bou1evard bebleen the Santa fionica Freeway
and Pico Boulevard \'/ithin the City of Santa t1onica.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5870~ et seq. of said code,
the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the 27th day of
June, 1978, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, it will hear and pass
upon any and all Objections or protests to the report of work of the Super-
intendent of Streets and the amount of the assessment assigned against the
real property described in said report.
SECTION 3. That all or any protests or objections Qust be in
writing and filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for hearing
of protests and objections.

STREET SUPERINTENDENTS' REPORT
TO THE CITY COUNCIL
RE: COMPLETION OF TREE PL&~TING DISTRICT #2
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 5882 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California, Resolution of Intention No.
4914 C.C.S., adopted August 23, 1977, Resolution Ordering No. 4926
C.C.S., adopted September 27,1917, the following work was completed
on March 23, 1978, to wit:
The planting of thirty five (35) trees along Lincoln Boulevard,
between the Santa Monica Freeway and Pico Boulevard, within the City
of Santa ~~onica.
The total cost of the wo~k was $2,907.11. The proposed assessment
is $2,907.11. ~he asseSSMent was made on the basis of $1.50 per front
foot.
Reference is made to the attached sheets for a description of
the real property in front of which the work has been done and the
assessment against each lot or parcel of land proposed to be levied
to pay the cost thereof.
