In tro ductlOn
The C1ty Council set a Public Hearing for the planting of trees on Colorado
from Fourth Street to Lincoln Boulevard. It 1S recommended the Council adopt
the attached Resolution ordering the work.
Background
The City Council at its meetlng on August 12, 1980, adopted Resolution of
Intention No. 6062 for the subject tree planting (Item 6-1). This resolution
set a public hearing for September 9, 1980. Not1ces were posted along
Colorado as required. Written notices were mailed to the property owners abutting
the project, designating the time and date of the hearing and the approximate
cost to them (see attached copy of the letter).
The City will do the planting (except for owners who may wish to do so) and
wlll partlcipate in the cost. The estimated cost to the abutting property
owners is $1.75 per front foot.
The property owners may do the planting and appurtenant work themselves and
they will have to plant the designated trees and commence the work w1thin 60
days from the date of adoption of the resolution ordering the work. If the
work 1S done by any property owner, there wlll be no assessment to that property.

2. Close the public hearing; and

adopted ResolutIon No. 6062(CC5) declaring the Intent to plant
trees along Colorado Avenue between 4th Street and Lincoln
Boulevard in the City of Santa ~onica (I-SO-C).
The estImated assessment cost of the tree planting of Sl.75
per front foot wIll be assessed to the district benefItIng
from the Improvement. ThIS includes all of the property
abutting Colorado Avenue between 4th Street and LIncoln
Boulevard.
In order for any and all persons objecting to the proposed
tree planting to have the opportunIty to address the City
CouncIl, a pub11c hearIng has been set for September 9, 1980
at 7:30 P.~. to be held 1n the Council Chambers, CIty Hall,

empowered by Sectlon 5870, et seq., of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of Californla to plant trees at various locatlons wlthin the City of
Santa Monlca:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest requires and it is the
intentlon of the City Coune11 of the City of Santa ~loniea to order the following
work to be done, to wit: The.planting of trees along Colorado Avenue from
Fourth Street to Llncoln Boulevard all in the City of Santa Monica. The estimated
cost of the improvement is $1.75 per front foot to the abutting property owners
and the balance of the cost is to be borne by the City.
SECTION 2. That sald proposed work or improvementt in the
opinlon of the City Council of the City of Santa Monlca, 15 of more than local
or ordinary public benefit, and said Council hereby proposes that the distrlct
in the City of Santa Monlca to be benefitted by said work or lmprovement and
to be assessed to pay the cost and expense thereof, includes all of the property
abutting Colorado between Fourth Street and Lincoln Boulevard.
SECTION 3. Notice hereby is glven pursuant to sald Sect10n
5870 et seq. that on September 9, 1980t at the hour of 7:30 p.m. in the Council
Chambers of the City Hall of sald City of Santa Monicat situated at 1685 Maln
Street in S31d City. any and all persons having any obJections to the proposed
