SUBJECT: RecommendatIon to Set Public HearIng for October 14,
1986, to ConfIrm Assessments for PlantIng Trees on
Broadway between 4th and 17th Streets
IntrOduction
ThlS report recommends that the Clty Councll set a publIC hearIng
for October 14, 1986, to confIrm assessments for plantlng of
trees on Broadway between 4th and l7th Streets.
Background
On October 1, 1985, the CIty Council approved the formatIon of an
assessment dIstrlct for plantIng trees on Broadway between 4th
and 17th Streets and set a publIC hedrlng for October 22, 1985.
No protests were submitted at the public hearlng and Council
ordered the work to be done. CIty crews planted the trees at
varIous locatIons along Broadway and the assessments are now due.
A Street SuperIntendent's Report lndlcatlng the propertles wIth
new trees and assessed amount wIll be presented at the public
hearIng.
Budget/FInanCIal Impact
A detalled assessment report WIll be presented at the publIC
hearIng.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the city council adopt the attached
resolution setting a public hearing for October 14, 1986, to
confirm assessments for planting trees on Broadway 4th and 17th
streets.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR
ANY PROTESrS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE CONFIRMATION
OF ASSESSMENTS FOR PLANTING OF TREES ON
BROADWAY BET~EEN 4TH AND 17TH STREETS, ALL
WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Superlntendent of Streets wIll fIle a
report of work pursuant to Sectlon 5882 of the Streets and
HIghways Code of the State of CalIfornia, relating to the
plantIng of trees on Broadway between 4th and 17th Streets, all
WIthIn toe CIty of Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to SectIon 5870, et seq. of said
Code, the CIty Councll does hereby order and declare tnat on the
13th day of October, 1980, In the CounCIl Chambers of tne Clty
Hall, It WIll hear and pass upon any and all ObjectIons or
protests to the report of work of the SuperIntendent of Streets,
and the amount of the assessment asslgned agaInst the real
property descrlbed In sald report.
SECTION 3. All protests or obJectIons must be in
wrItIng and flIed wlth the Clty Clerk on or before the time set
for hearing of protests and obJectlons.
SECTION 4. The Clty Clerk IS hereby directed to mall
notIces, In the manner and form prescrIbed by law, of the
adoptIon of thls resolutlon to all persons owning real property

addresses appear on the last equallzed assessment roll for the
Clty taxes or as known to the Clty Clerk.
SECTION 5. That the Clty Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of thlS Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
