Public Hearing for Tree Planting Project on Broadway
Between Lincoln Boulevard and Fourteenth Street
Introduction
This report requests City Council hold a public hearing for the
planting of trees on BrOadway between Lincoln Boulevard and
Fourteenth Street.
Background
The City Council at its meeting on August 24, 1982, adopted
Resolution
No.
6550 for the subject tree planting.
This
resolution set a public hearing for September 28, 1982. Written
notices were mailed to the property owners abutting the project,
designating the time and date of the hearing and the approXlmate
cost to them and were posted as required by law.
The City will do the planting (except for owners who may wish to
do so) and will participate in the cost. The estimated cost to
the abutting property owners is $3.00 per front foot.
The property owners may do the planting and appurtenant work
themselves and they will have to plant the designated trees and
commence the work within 60 days from the date of adoption of the
resolution ordering the work. If the work is done by any property
owner, there will be no assessment to that property.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Open the public hearlng;
2. Close the public hear1ng and overrule any protests; and
3. Adopt the attached resolution ordering the work.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA ORDERING THE PLANTING OF TREES
ALONG BROAD~AY BETWEEN LINCOLN ~ND FOURTEENTH
STREET ALL WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
WHEREAS. the City Council of the City of Santa Monica. on the
24th day of August. 1982. adopted Resolution No. 6550 (CCS)
settlng a public hearing; and
WHEREAS, written notices of said improvement have been given
in the manner required by law; and
WHEREAS. any and all written objections and protests to the
work or the extent of the district to be assessed were heard and
considered by the Clty Counci1;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That the public convenience and necessity
requlre the plant1ng of trees along Broadway between Lincoln and
Fourteenth Street, all within the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
Tnat all protests and objections of every kind
and nature to the planting of trees along Broadway between Lincoln
and Fourteenth Street. all with the City of Santa Monica. be and
the same are hereby overruled and denied.
