SUBJECT: Recommendation to accept a grant awarded to the Library
by the Foundation for community Service Cable
Television.
INTRODUCTION
This report contains a recommendation that the City Council
accept and authorize budget procedures for a grant awarded by the
Foundation for Community Service Cable Television to the Santa
Monica PUblic Library for the purpose of producing two thirty
minute programs on art and music resources in the Santa Monica
area.
BACKGROUND
The Santa Monica Public Library applied for an FCSCT grant to
produce a series of programs on the cultural heritage of the
Santa Monica Bay area. It was awarded $2,220 to produce the
first two programs of a planned series which will emphasize the
relationship of Library resources to the interests of the
Community.
One program on art will include activities of the Arts
Commission, Recreation and Parks Department, City Schools, and
the Library. Another program on music will include the Santa
Monica Symphony and other local musical groups and musicians.
Videotapes of these programs will be available to the public as a
permanent part of the Library's cOllection and to agencies

Additionally, the following technical appropriation is necessary
in order to transfer funds from the miscellaneous grants fund to
the general fund: 20-700-695-000-793 $2,220, and at
01-700-695-000-793 [$2,220].
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the city Council authorize the
appropriation increase to make the necessary revenue and
expenditure adjustments for FY 1986/87 and interfund transfer
accounts.
