SR-900-001 (3) --- . . ~~E:- f'po- 00/ GS:SES:DA:JAS Council Meeting: May 23, 1989 Santa Monica, California TO: Mayor and City council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Award of Contract for Installation of New Roofs at the Police Department Introduction This report requests that the City Council award a contract to install new roofs at the Police Department to Saddleback Roofing Inc., the lowest reponsible bidder, in the amount of $29,763. Background For fiscal year 1989-90, the City Council approved the replacement of portions of the Pol ice Department roof. City staff identified the areas which had deteriorated due to age and prepared a bid package for replacing those areas. A Notice Inviting aids was published on April 3 and 4, 19891 in the Evening Outlook and in four construction journals. Bidding documents were also forwarded to seven minority/women contracting associations. Bidding packages were requested by six contractors. The bids were received, opened and PUblicly read by the Deputy City Clerk on May 3, 1989. Five bids were received as follows: Saddleback Roofing Inc. $291763 Reycrest Roofing and Water- proofing Co. Recommendation It is recommended that the city Council: 1. Award a contract to install new roofs at the Police Department to Saddleback Roofing Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $29,763; and 2.
