SUBJECT: Award of Contract to Install New Roofs on Public
Fac~lltles Maintenance Bu~ldings at the City Yards
Introduction
Thls report recommends that the city Council award a contract to
install new roofs on the pUblic facilities maintenance buildings
at the city Yards to Rey-Crest Roofing and Waterproofing Company,
the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $57,249.
B~ckqround
During the 1990-1991 budget process, the city Council approved
funding to replace the badly deteriorated roofs on the pUblic
facilities malntenance buildings at the city Yards.
Plans and
specif1cations were prepared by the city Engineer's Off1ce.
A Notice Inviting Bids was published on October 22nd and 23rd,
1990, in the Evening outlook, and four construction journals, and
was sent to eight WMBE Associations.
Plans and specifications
were 1ssued to eleven contractors.
Bids were received and read
publicly on November 20, 1990, by the Deputy city Clerk.
Six bids were received as follows:

supplled the Clty wlth three references. All references reported
that the contractor's work was satisfactory.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Award a contract to install new roofs on the public
facllities buildings at the City Yards to Rey-Crest Roofing
and Waterproofing Company, the lowest responslble bldder, in
the amount of $57,249.00; and

orders to complete additional work in conformance with the
Administrative Instruction on change orders.
