SUBJECT: Gift from Fr~ends of L~brary for Ocean Park Branch
Library
INTRODUCTION
This report asks Council to accept a gift of $6,500 from the
Fr~ends of the Santa Mon~ca Public Library to supplement C~ty
funds for furn~sh~ng the Ocean Park Branch Library .
BACKGROUND
The Fr~ends of the Santa Monica Publ~c Library have conducted a
fund-raising effort for the past several months to benef~ t the
Ocean Park Branch Llbrary.
The money raised is to supplement
city funds for furn1sh1ng the newly-remodeled branch.
Of the 40
contributors, many have des1gnated speclflc items of furniture
they wlsh to donate, and these donat~ons wlll be recognized by a
plaque attached to the ltem.
The flnal amount needed to supplement City funds for this proJect
1S $6,500.
Donatl.ons from the corrununl ty up to thlS pOl.nt have
totaled $4,742. The Friends now wlsh to glve the total amount of
$6,500 as a gift to the City to complete the furnishlng of the
Ocean Park Branch.

necessary
for
the
Council
to
l.ncrease
the
FY
1984-85
appropriation authority at
capital proJect account
number
01-710-613-000-910 by $6,500 and to increase the FY 1984-85
revenue estimate at account number 01-907-185-000-000 by $6,500.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Councl.l approve an l.ncrease of $6,500 in
appropriation authority at Account #01-710-613-000-910 to be
fl.nanced by $6,500 in revenue from the Frl.ends of the Santa
Monl.ca Pub11.C Ll.brary at Account #01-907-185-000-000 wlth the
understanding that these funds are to be deslgnated for purchase
of furnlshl.ngs for the Ocean Park Branch Library.
