This report concerns participation in the Federal Surplus Property
Donation Program through the State of California Agency for Surplus
Property The Federal Government makes no charge for this property
and the State imposes a nominal handling and service charge.
Background
Personal property that may be donated by the Federal Government and
which is frequently available under this program includes hand and
machine tools, office machines and supplies, furniture, hardware,
motor vehicles, boats, airplanes, construction equipment and other
items.
The City has participated in comparable civil defense oriented programs
for approximately fifteen (15) years.
Property cn hand at the regional distribution center in Fullerton is
available on request. A "want list" also is maintained by the Agency
for items not in stock
City Council authorization to participate is a condition for eligibity
in this program.
Recormnendation
It is recommended that participation in the Federal Surplus Property
Donation Program through the State of California Agency for Surplus
Property be authorized by the adoption of the attached resolution.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN
THE FEDERAL SURPLUS PROPERTY DONATION PROGRAM
THROUGH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AGENCY FOR
SURPLUS PROPERTY
\.;rHEREAS , surplus federal property is available through the
state of California Agency for Surplus Property, and
~~EREAS, material and equipment required by the City may be
obtained on a opportune basis for only a nominal service and handling
charge, and .
\VHEREAS, participation in this program will be of tangible
benefit to the City.
NOH, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS.
SECTION 1. That participation in the Federal Surplus Property
Donation Program through the State of California Agency for Surplus
Property will be of tangible benefit to the City.
SECTION 2. That the Purchasing Agent of the City of Santa Monica
is hereby authorized and directed to administer and execute all documents
in connection therewith for and on behalf of the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
