SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Provide Monthly
Maintenance of Heating, Ventilating and Air
Conditioning Systems, Bid #2276
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide monthly maintenance
of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for the
Transportation Department,
at specified unit prices,
plus
applicable sales tax, and two one-year renewal options.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
April 30, 1990 and May l, 1990) to provide monthly maintenance of
heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems in accordance
with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened
and read on May 22, 1990. Proposal forms were mailed to eighteen
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.

Avalon Pacific is the lowest and best bidder.
staff contacted
five of their client references and was informed that their
services were excellent.
staff has evaluated the low bid and
finds that it meets city specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Transportation Department, account number 41-600-65l-
ll201-550l-253l5. For the period July l, 1990 through June 30,
1991, appropriation authority will be as set forth in the Fiscal
Year 1990/91 budget for the Transportation Department.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2276 be made to Avalon
pacific, Inc. at specified unit prices, plus applicable sales
tax, and two one-year renewal options, as the lowest and best
bidder.
