SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish Hot Asphal tic
Concrete Paving Mixes, Bid #2288
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish hot asphaltic
concrete paving mixes for the street Division, General Services
Department, per specified unit prices, including applicable sales
tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 23
and 24, 1990) to furnish hot asphaltic concrete paving mixes in
accordance with city specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June 7, 1990. Proposal forms were
mailed to three vendors and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals
were received as follows:
BLUE
DIAMOND
INDUSTRIAL
ASPHALT
1. 7.5% asphalt binder and 9% aggregate
2. 5.8% asphalt binder and 2% aggregate
3. 7.5% asphalt binder and 7% aggregate

staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1990/91 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the streets Division, General Services Department, account
number 01-400-421-00000-4414-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2288 be made to
Blue Diamond per specified unit prices, including applicable tax,
as the lowest and best bidder.
