SUBJECT Recommendation to reject bids for full-size automobile.
Bid No. 1323
Introduction
This report concerns rejection of the sole bid received to furnish
and deliver one (1) full size 1978 four-door sedan for use by the
Police Department.
Background
One (1) bid to supply this automobile was publicly opened and read
in the office of the City Manager November 8, 1977. Proposal forms
were mailed to twenty-three (23) new car dealers and notices were
advertised in accordance with city charter and municipal code pro-
visions. Subsequent to the bid opening, the Police Department
reviewed its requirements and ascertained that a compact four-
door sedan could be used in lieu of a full size car The difference
in cost between these two models is estimated to be in excess of
$1,100.00. Purchase of the compact car will be through the co-
operative program of the State of Cal~fornia or by exercise of
options on file, depending upon the lowest delivered cost
Recommendation
It is recommended that the sole bid received on bid number 1323
be rejected
