SUBJECT. Recommendation to reject bid for concrete construction
Bid No 1346.
Introduction
This report concerns rejection of the sole bid received tor con-
struction of a concrete mowing strip and related items at Virginia
Avenue Park.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids, one (1) bid was
received and publicly opened and read in the office of the City
~1anager March 21, 1978. Proposal forms were mailed to nineteen (19)
listed concrete contractors and notices were advertised in accord-
ance with city charter and municipal code provisions.
Sully-Miller Contracting Co submitted a bid of $5,125,00 for the
work specified, a figure well above the General Services estimate
of S2,300.00 - $2,500 00
Alternatives
1 Examine t~e feasibility of having this project done by r.ity
forces.
2 Issue a new call for bids at such time as more narticipation
can be generated among concrete contractors.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the sole bid received for concrete construc-
tion at Virginia Avenue Park be rejected
