SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Detector Check Valves Without Lead weights, aid #2258
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver detector
check valves without lead weights for the Water Division, General
Services Departm.ent, at specified unit prices, plus applicable
sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
December 4 and 5, 1989) to furnish and deliver detector check
valves without lead weights in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on December 28, 1989. Proposal forms were mailed to seven
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Four proposals were
received as follows:

The dectector check valves are used on fire sprinkler lines for
buildings. Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it
meets City specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority' for this purchase is
in the Water Division, General Services Department, maintenance
account. AS the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will
\ be expensed against available FY 1989/90 appropriation authority.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #225B be made to Davis
Taylor Jett at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax, as the
lowest and best bidder.
