SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One ( 1) New and Unused 10,500 GVWR Cab and Chassis with
Valve Operator Crane, Bid #2260
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new and unused 10,500 GVWR Cab and Chassis with valve operator
crane for the Water Division, General Services Department, in the
total amount of $37,089.22, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
December 4 and 5, 1989) to furnish and deliver one (1) new and
unused 10,500 GVWR Cab and Chassis with valve operator crane in
accordance with city specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on December 28, 1989. Proposal forms
were mailed to fourteen vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Five
proposals were received as follows:

The valve operator is used to turn the water main valve in the
street on and off. The crane is used for heavy duty lifting of
pipes, etc. staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it
meets City specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1989/90 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Water Division, General Services Department, account
number 25-500-671-00000-8806-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2260 be made to Santa
Monica Ford in the total amount of $37,089.22, including
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
