SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Miscellaneous Air, Oil and Fuel Filters for GMC and
Flxible Transit Coaches, Bid #2268
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
miscellaneous air, oil and fuel filters for GMC and Flxible
transit coaches for the Transportation Department, at specified
unit prices, plus applicable sales tax, for a one-year period.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
January 17 and 18, 1990) to furnish and deliver miscellaneous
air, oil and fuel filters for GMC and Flxible transit coaches in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on February 6, 1990. proposal forms
were mailed to seven vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

Cost of a representative array of air, oil, and fuel filters:
The Flxible Corp. $39,322.96
Graham Brake and Diesel Co. (WMBE) $40,100.64
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
As the materials are drawn out of inventory, they will be
expensed against available FY 1989/90 appropriation authority in
the Transportation Department. For the period July 1, 1990
through January 31, 1991, funds will be as set forth in the
FY 1990/91 budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2268 be made to The
Flxible Corp. at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax, as
the lowest and best bidder.
