Recommendation to ReJect Bld #2016 for Interior Bus
Cleaning SerVlce for the Transportatlon Department.
Introductlon
This report concerns reJection of the one bid rece1ved, WhlCh was
from B & W Service Industrles. The b1d recelved was over the
amount provlded for 1n the FY 1985-1986 TransportatJ..on Department
budget.
Background
In response to pub11shed Not1ces Invlt1ng B1ds (pub11shed Septern-
ber 11 and 12, 1985) to furnlsh interlor bus clean1ng services
for the Transportatlon Department. proposal forms were mal1ed to
flve vendors and not1ces were advert1sed 1n accordance with CJ..ty
Charter and Munlclpal Code prov151ons. A pre-bld conference was
held wlth all of the b1dders. However, only one company, B & W
Serv1ce Industr1es. responded wlth a bid of $569.42 un1t cost per
bus as per the specif1cations.
ThlS bld 15 conslderably over the amount provlded for 1n the FY
1985-1986 budget. Therefore, staff belleves the cost 15 too ex-
penS1ve and recommends that the bld be reJected. Alternatives
w1ll be considered by the staff, such as reviewing the
speclficlat10ns and rebiddJ..ng; or utllizlng Transportation De-
partment Personnel to accomp11sh the task.
