SUBJECT' Set Public Hearings on Sixth Year
Community Development Block Grant Application
Introduction
This report transmits a schedule for the preparation and submission of the
Sixth Year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Application to the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
DiscussIon
In an effort to provide information to the citizenry and allow a feedback
mechanism for citizens to participate in the planning and decision-making
process for the use of CDBG funds, it is proposed that the Council set the
three required publIc hearings. The first hearing to be held is on Performance
Assessment and citizens are given an opportunity to review projects and programs
already completed or In progress. This is followed by a public hearing on
Housing and Community Development needs. which is part of an overall citizen
participation process which includes several other meetings of community groups.
The final public hearing is on the Final Appl ication for SubmiSSion to HUD.
Recommendation
City staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached Schedule for a
timely submission to HUD of the Sixth Year CDBG Application, and set a Public
Hearing on Performance Assessment for November 13, 1979, a Public Hearing on
Housing and Community Development Needs for January 8. 1980. and a Public Hearing
on the Final Application for January 22. 1980
