SUbject: Rejection of the Sole Bid for the Design and
Construction of Three Vehicle Storage Facilities
Introduction
This report requests that the City council reject the sole bid
for the Design and Construction of the Three Vehicle storage
Facilities and authorize the staff to readvertise the project.
Background
The City Council appropriated funds for the construction of a
garage for the Water Division at the Corporation Yards (project
#671-926, $43,000) and a garage for the Wastewater Division at
the Corporation Yards (project #661-921, $54,000) during the FY
1985-86 budget process and a garage/workshop for the Water
Division at the Arcadia Water Treatment Plant (project #671-928,
$89,250) during the FY 1986-87 budget process. Due to their
similar nature, the projects were combined.
A notice inviting bids was published on August 11, 12, and 13,
1986. Plans and specifications were issued to eight contractors
and nine construction advertising services inclUding six which
advertise mainly to minority contractors. One bid was received
and read publicly by the Deputy city Clerk on September 4, 1986.
